Hotspurs USA launched its recreational division in 2003..
The recreational soccer program is open to all children 4 - 11 years old.
Players are organized on teams by age and geography and are led by volunteer coaches. Hotspurs USA provides support and resources to these valuable volunteers.
In an effort to further the soccer development of all the children in our recreational program, Hotspurs USA provides:
- Trainers to each team,
- Free Friday skills sessions, and
- Summer camp.
Players in our Recreational Soccer Program will enjoy playing while learning and therefore reaping the benefits of being part of a well organized soccer league.
As part of this program, in addition to the help from the trainer, a set of well thought-out practice sessions are provided to the volunteer coaches in order to assist them in introducing children to the fundamentals of soccer techniques through fun games and put these newly learned skills to use by playing small-sided games. The program operates under the simple belief that kids learn by participating. Thus, everyone plays at least 75% of the time in games.
Players can expect
-
Practice sessions designed around activity and fun: no lines, short explanations, fun games, lots of touches on the ball, conducive to learning,
-
Small-sided format and Minimum 75% playing time in games to maximize active participation and touches on the ball, and
-
A fun introduction to the game of soccer!!
-
Players Under 6 will learn in an Academy format, with professional trainers guiding their development at all practices in a fun and engaging environment. Players will be divided into balanced teams and will play small sided games every Saturday at Los Coches Creek under the supervision of professional trainers and volunteer coaches.
-
Players Under 8 will also work with professional trainers once a week. In addition they will have a volunteer team coach and will play games every Saturday. At this age, up to 4 “buddies” can be placed together on the same team. There will also be an “All Star” team at the end of the season that will participate in All Star tournaments.
-
Players Under 10 and Under 12 will work with professional trainers once a week similarly to the Under 8, and up to 6 “buddies” can be placed on the same team. These age groups will play home games at Los Coches and away games on the fields of other nearby Clubs’ recreational programs.
Coaches can expect
-
Manual with tested developmentally appropriate practice curriculums that allow first time coaches to create a fun environment conducive to learning for their players,
-
Help from a qualified trainer that alleviates work and pressure of planning practice sessions and instead allows the volunteer coaches to be more openly involved in the fun at hand and more open to learning themselves.
Parents can expect
-
Trainers and volunteer coaches successfully cleared through the Risk Management program. (Live Scan – finger printing),
-
A positive environment for their children to learn the game of soccer and have fun,
-
No worries of playing time, their child will not be stuck in a position and stress will be on development, not winning.
